The pupils at Rockingham Primary School were amazed when they arrived at school on Friday 16th October, … dinosaur bones had been found!
The children and staff were greeted by the excavation team, who had dug up the school field and coned it off to protect their discovery. Two archaeologists from the team, Flick and Penelope, shared what they had found in a lively and enthusiastic assembly, which even included an energetic Stegosaurus rap.
The children prepared accounts of the day for the ‘world press’ and the archaeologists were delighted with the children’s ideas, contributions and skill in writing.
Mrs Dalziel, Class teacher for Year 6, said: “It really was an incredible day, filled with an air of excitement, fabulous discussion and wonderful writing.”
